Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin Make Beautiful History Together

Was it a gimmick? Was Obama's selection a gimmick? Can we realistically ascribe sincerity to political wrangling? That last question is easier to answer.

To forgo political speculation, let us analyze Governor Sarah Palin on the merits. She is certainly a righteous choice by Senator John McCain. Admittedly, it was not pleasing to the sensibilities at the sound of the news, but that is more of a
testament to John McCain's maverick style than my insight.

Sarah Palin just added another crack to that ceiling and I must admit that on an emotional level it is pleasing to the sensibilities. Senator McCain just guaranteed that history would be made. He ensured another chapter in a textbook for future generations to study. I hope I am around when my grandchildren bring home paper detailing the events of 2008.

Do you remember the smell of the rexo-sheets with the purple ink from middle school? It is in the air now, a wisp of nostalgia.

Now, back on the ground the facts are here to be discerned and disseminated to advance the cause.

Governor Sarah Palin has demonstrated the ability to make tough decisions, to buck the status quo and do what is right for the nation. She fought corruption in her own party and took the reigns as a young Governor in the state of Alaska. Sarah Palin is a maverick in her own right.

Sarah Palin entered public life in 1992 on the platform of cutting wasteful spending and corruption. In office, she put her money where her mouth was by voluntarily cutting her own salary and reducing property taxes by 60%

As governor she acted against big oil, championed the creation of a natural gas line against the interests of big oil. She took bold steps to place money back into the pockets of Alaskan motorists via $1,200 rebates. The cure to the energy crisis? No, but it is relief while we combat years of malfeasance and foreign oil addiction.

Like any successful rehab endeavor, it takes years to kick the old destructive habits. What is your respective governor doing in the mean time, are they looking out for you? I know what my governor is doing. Nothing.

Arguably, the majority of bodies inhabiting the United States no longer possess the character, intellect, or morality to be identified as Americans - and thus, further the cause of this our great, diminishing democracy... We shall see on November 4th. I would that God prove it not so....

Tony! I loved this. I think that it is hilarious that Obama is less qualified than the VP republican nominee. The fact that she is a woman is just a bonus. I think she is fantastic, and I love that she has the gumption to even fight her own party in times of corruption. I do not see Democrats doing that. I do not think I have ever seen a Democrat do that. That is class. Am I the only one that thinks she looks like Tina Fey of Saturday Night Live fame?

I believe you are very intelligent, but I do not agree with your politics. I think that even though it may sound old fashioned if a woman has a child, and I mean a newborn, with special needs, her first responsibility is to that baby. NO matter how good a father is he cannot be a mother. There is plenty of time for women to choose to have a career, but motherhood should be first. If her children were all older that would be a different story. But it is obvious that her children are NOT! I also find the remark about the only difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull is lipstick? Sorry Tony I think she is totally wrong for VP letting alone President, and as far as McCaine goes, I shudder, to think of him the so called Maverick who says that he wants to run the country like Bush?

Well-written, thoughtful, as always, Tony. Oh- I think our governor has done something- he said no to Broadwater.. trying to cut the budget deficit. How that helps me, personally, dunno, but it's got to be good to try to make the state not go bankrupt.

Great job as usual. I like her, flaws and all. Even though you know who I think really deserves the keys to the White House, I must say that a McCain/Palin ticket is certainly less riskier than the alternative presented by the Dems!

Bridget, you may not be into facts either..but I'll share some with you anyway; the Annenberg foundation has provided 100% funding for one of the most popular fact checker sites out there. The Annenberg foundation has also funded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge(CAC). More facts: The CAC was FOUNDED by domestic terrorist William Ayers the Chairman of the board was none other than Barack Obama....Facts are stubborn things..Factchecker.org despite their non-partisan claims..clearly has ethical issues of their own...From being involved with Obama, Ayers, to hiring staff writers from PBS and assistants for Bill Moyers...can you say in the tank??

I'm not really into politics, but I do know her speech was full of lies just from fact checking sites on the Internet that were posted all over the place.

Tony, I think Sheryl Young's article "The Perfect Presidential Candidate" says everything - almost - I want to say. None of the candidates has lived a life of perfection as Jesus did for 33 years. Therefore, all are flawed. But I love the way Sarah Palin has electrified the election! I know she's going to get ripped apart in the next 2 months, but since she's a Christian, she has Someone to fight her battles. Good article, Tony.

LOL @ Aly's comment. It was a shock to the sensibilities wasn't it? Then it was like an a-ha moment. But, alas, being new the comfort level is not quite there yet...I have a feeling it will though. I'm seeing this campaign through the debates...ought to be interesting. :-)

Amen to all of it Tony. I've been a Palin supporter for awhile. Hillary, McCain and Palin are just what the country needs to break for the partisan gridlock of today's political climate.
