When Shopping Carts Go Bad

When Shopping Carts Go Bad.

Normally kept in domesticated herds by chain stores and supermarkets, the shopping cart is usually a docile and placid creature. Most customers take them for granted and often trust their children with them.

However, every so often, thanks mainly to man, the odd cart will escape or be stolen by trolley
 rustlers.

If not recaptured immediately many carts will revert, partly or wholly, to its wild state. They often lead a solitary existence but have been known to gather in groups and breed practically overnight.

A feral population of shopping carts can have a significant impact on an ecosystem by predation on vulnerable parking spaces, or by competition with indigenous species of motor vehicle.

In many parts of the world the motor vehicle is facing extinction due to loss of habitat where feral shopping carts have managed to get a foothold.

Many children have had a near escape by mistaking the submissive posture of an upturned cart as an invitation to play, only the vigilance of the mother has saved these children from harm.
