The NASCAR Nextel Cup season is right around the corner. Here are the top 45 drivers.

Three quarters of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup season has passed, and here's how the drivers are graded.

In the beginning of the year, I composed my NASCAR top ten predictions.

As we enter into the brand new NASCAR Nextel Cup season, it is time to take a look at the top 45 drivers, and how they rank.

When DaimlerChrysler engineers developed the 2005 Dodge Charger, it was based on the 2004 rules package. After the car was developed and ready to makes it's NASCAR debut, NASCAR officials decided to make modifications to the rules package.

Since Dale Earnhardt's tragic death in 2001, the face of NASCAR has vastly changed.

The NASCAR Nextel Cup season is right around the corner.

For years now Hendrick Motorsports has always been one of the top dog's in NASCAR with Jeff Gordon who has won 4 Nextel Cup Championships in his career and Jimmie Johnson who just won his first with his dominating season in 2006.

It is understandable that Nextel prefer to be the only telecommunication company associated with NASCAR, but at the same time, it is vital that their strict stance not be the primary reason for the possible demise of some teams.

The 2007 Nextel All-Star Challenge has failed to receive rave reviews, and that is putting is mildly.

Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon missed the Chase for the Championship in 2005. But they weren't the only big names that missed out on NASCAR's version of the playoffs.

While many of today's NASCAR fans consider Mark Martin the best driver never to win the title, some of the greatest drivers in history who paved the way for Richard Petty and David Pearson will never be listed as a NASCAR champion.

Over the years, drivers within the same organization have clashed, whether it is personality conflicts, jealousy, or just pure competitiveness.

Montoya has made quite a name for himself as a champion in the Champ Car series, and being an Indianapolis 500 winner, and he has the backing of an international fan base. But this is not Formula One, nor any open-wheel series.

How NASCAR works

The competition has become so intense, drivers tend to let their emotions dictate their actions rather than worrying about what mainstream America thinks- which is how it should be.
