Decidedly campy, yet filled with dark comedy, witty southern lingo, soulful blues, and the wickedly sumptuous Christina Ricci, Black Snake Moan is an indefinable blend of pulpy guilty pleasures.

Not only does it have touches of humor, but Black Snake Moan is a deep self-help drama with great performances from Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci. Sadly, the film has a few faults that come close to ruining everything good about it.

Shock number one in this move was Christina half naked most of the movie. Yes, little Christina was all grown up. The shock want not because she was in tremendous shape or the fact that she was blonde.

Boxing films make an impacting punch because they often reach deeper meanings than the surface of the sport. In most cases, boxing films revolve more around an inner struggle. Resurrecting the Champ fits in with this paradigm.
