Flags of Our Fathers is a moving character study of the men who raised the American flag on Iwo Jima. It also explores how the politics driving the war bonds campaign badly distorted the real story of that epic battle.

James Bradley has written (with Ron Powers) an extremely revealing and entertaining biography about his father and the other five men that raised the American flag on Iwo Jima.

This is a short review of Flags of Our Fathers to give readers a slight heads up on the basics of the movie that is out in theatres now.

Flags of Our Fathers, Clint Eastwood's 26th film as director, has just been released and with its glowing reviews it is safe to say that the 76 year old actor-director can be placed on the list as one of our great current American film directors.

Flags of Our Fathers is a great war movie. I am just not so sure if it is a good movie overall though.
