I'm always amazed at the wonderful variety of shapes and colors that Mother Nature can produce. I have a lot of fun tranforming, combinign and layering these shapes into fantastic, colorful abstractions. Mother Nature has a strange and wonderful imagination! By Don Whitaker | Published 9/13/2007

Visit the Devil's Churn State Park along Highway 101 on the central Oregon Coast. This rocky, jagged cove captures the ocean's relentless energy and flings it skyward in a joyous release of sparkling spray.
Watch the sunset in glorious red and purples, mediate on the water as it ripples down the rocky cliffs, hear the crashing waves as they complete their journey from the heart of the ocean.
Filmed at the Devil's Churn on the Oregon Coast. Music by Richard Sharpless: Rock-in-tire-rag. By Don Whitaker | Published 5/3/2007

Enjoy this ephemeral moment: a young deer grazing along a quiet stretch of the Alsea River in Oregon state. The faun steps lightly over the brush on the bank as she stops for a sip of fresh water from the stream.
You can often see deer or elk wandering around the coastal mountain range here on the Alsea River. You may even wake to find them grazing in your Yard!

Flower Power is a video celebration of one of Mother Nature's most powerful and poetic creations: the flower! Infinite varieties of color, shape, sizes and fragrance unfold in a celebration of life and beauty.
In this video you will see an assortment of flowers; African Daisies, several types of sunflowers, orange poppies, sweet peas, blooming artichoke, wild iris, cala lilies, and even the lowly dandelion. All of these flowers reveal there natural, symmetrical beauty.
Flower Power was filmed in my friend Cat's garden at the Beaver Creek Spiritual Temple. :) Music by Tony Kaltenberg. By Don Whitaker | Published 5/3/2007

This is a guaranteed, no fail, party pleaser. I promise you that your long prep time will be rewarded with oohs and ahhs from your lucky dinner guests. This may sound like a lot of hot air, but I speak from personal experience. People love these things! By Don Whitaker | Published 4/24/2007

This is my Mother's version of Fried Rice. It's one of my Dad's favorites, and I definitely agree with him. Very easy to make, and surprisingly good. By Don Whitaker | Published 4/24/2007

Mother Nature creates an endless variety of forms and colors. In this video I take these shapes and transform them into a kaleidoscope full of mesmerizing movement: confections for your eyes and mind.
The music is by my friend Tony Kaltenberg - On the Wing of the Great Spaceship. By Don Whitaker | Published 1/17/2007

Cape Perpetua, on the central Oregon coast, is a lush cove perched high above the Pacific Ocean.
I was visiting Cape Perpetua on a winter afternoon and I noticed a storm on the horizon. Dark, foreboding storm clouds were gathering in the distance. As the clouds and rain approached, I set up my camera and filmed as much of the area as I could.
I was so excited! I always get a thrill when I am lucky enough to experience Mother Nature during a special moment.
As the storm clouds approached several other park visitors came through the little stone hut where I was filming. Much to my surprise none of them were excited by the view - in fact they were all disappointed that the weather was not bright and sunny! All of them left quickly to return to the safety of their cars. I was left alone to meditate on the wonders of Nature and the ever-changing forms of the storm clouds.
The song is a Creative Commons licensed track by Gudonark called Bowen Hill. By Don Whitaker | Published 1/12/2007

Take a break from the world, relax, and let Mother Nature sooth your soul. A simple flower garden can be an amazingly complex and beautiful place.
This is a video slide show set to music - a meditation on shape and color. Why are dasies, sunflowers, and artichokes so amazingly complex and beautiful?
All of these images were captured over the course of a few months in a friend's flower garden. The music is by Tony Kaltenberg, another friend and fellow nature-lover. By Don Whitaker | Published 1/10/2007

I stopped by Donald, Oregon last Summer during Donald Daze. A pretty lively celebration for such a small town. The skateboarding competition attracted a good crowd and a crew of (mostly) local rippers.
Here's my video mix of the event. The music on this one is from my friends' band Sonicbloom - a positive, energetic, Hip-Hop spirit massage. By Don Whitaker | Published 12/28/2006

The Hobbit Trail is located just a few miles north of Florence on the Oregon Coast. Even though it is just a short distance from the highway it is a lush, vibrant, living forest trail. Winding paths will take you by colorful mushrooms, verdant undergrowth, small ravines, and twisted tree limbs. By Don Whitaker | Published 12/11/2006

Yachatsanova A musical journey through Mother Nature's bountiful beauty! This is the title track of a series of videos - all filmed within 30 miles of Yachats, Oregon. I recorded some of the amazing scenery around Yachats. Boiling storm clouds, splashing waves, seagulls & fog. All parts of a day in Yachats. Then I mixed it all together with a song that is written and preformed by local musician extra-ordinaire, Richard Sharpless. A amazing musician whose mind is as nimble as his fingers!
