This hard qi gong exercise is used to teach student how to channel chi to the hands for grabbing techniques, as well as to strengthen the muscles used for gripping. Use reverse abdominal breathing (lower abdomen pulled in as you inhale, and pushed out as you exhale), inhale as your relaxed arm is stretched out, exhale forcefully as grab to the side tensing all your muscles, keep the forearm strongly tensed as you gradually close the grip and bring your arm back to the waist.

Increase the power of your punches with this Chinese qi gong exercise.
Use reverse abdominal breathing, so that the lower abdomen is drawn in with the inhale, and pushed out with the exhale. Exhale for three breaths with a 'sshhh' sound, then shoot out the hand with a 'her-it' sound and try to channel chi from your dan tian at he lower abdomen to your finger tip.
Stances, and the ability to move swiftly and smoothly between them, are very important in kung fu. Stances and stance exercises are used to improve footwork, increase leg strength and to work on balance and 'rooting' (stability).
This hard qi gong exercise is used in martial arts to strengthen the arms and shoulders, and to increase 'guardian chi' which enables you to withstand strikes without getting hurt as part of 'iron shirt' or 'steel jacket' training. Exhale and gradually tense the arms and shoulders as you push outwards in the first movement, holding a tense position for a few seconds. In the second movement exhale and gradually tense as you expand the arms outwards, again holding a tensed position for a few seconds.
A qi gong exercise. Exhale fully before beginning, then really stretch as you move into the first posture, then exhale and hold for 3 breaths before moving on to the other side.
A Qi Gong exercise. Inhale as you turn your head to the side and move down, then exhale as you reach the bottom of the movement and rise again.
Inhale as you raise your arms, then exhale as you lower them in the way shown. Hold the cupped hands position for 3 breaths, your arms forming a circle. Now inhale and stretch the chest, opening it up as much as possible, then exhale as you push forwards, inhale, and the exhale as you push upwards, inhale, and exhale again as you push out to the sides and hold this for 3 full breaths.
Inhale as you raise your arms. Hold your breath for a second and push upwards at the top, and then exhale as you lower your arms before holding your breath for a moment at he bottom. Repeat at least 8 times.
