Shadows cloak the darkening swills
Showing spray above the boulders.
A stole against the evening chill,
The fog up round her shoulders;
A flashing light up on the crest
Warning those underneath the spar,
Thye crashing breakers take no rest
Still shining white beneath the stars.

Kites up in the sky, castles in the sand,
Shells and polished stones glisten in the sun.
In artistic form driftwood on the strand,
Children on the shore laugh and play and run
Glancing golden beams sparkling cross the waves;
Silver-blue and foam, velveteen and lace;
The lighting of my soul warming up the day;
Sand between my toes, wind across my face;
The One who made the sea whispers from the shore.
The soothing of the waves drumming on the land,
The thunder and the spray rolling o'r and o'r,
Continually He says, "All is in My hands."

There are those who would say we do not know something if we cannot answer any hypothetical possibility that could be raised. This, of course, excludes all areas of knowledge. We can doubt anything if we put our minds to it.

Every poet looks for. . .
Words that cry; words that sing
Words that shine, words that ring
Words that fly, words that pray
Words that sigh, words that say
The many splendored thing.
Every story teller longs for . . .
Words that fret, words that bite
Words that whet the appetite,
Words that let, words that make
Words that bless, words that shake
The earth with all their might.
Every preacher prays for words
Without restraint or brazen fixtures
That re-acquaint the ancient scriptures.
Words that cast a thousand actors
And outlast all their detractors
Words that paint a thousand pictures.
The Holy Spirit proffers. . .
Words enhanced as message carriers
Words that wrench the hearts interior
Words that lance the septic shame
Words that dance in holy flame
Words that trance the language barrier.

Hardly knowing where you're going
Stepping out in blessed faith,
All your life in His consoling,
Blessed, blessing every race.
Rejecting honors, Pharaoh's throne
To serve a King invisible,
Stepping out, His way unknown
Parting waters once unthinkable.
You leave no little operation;
Ships, nets and your father's home.
Men are now your new vocation;
Eternity in flesh and bone.
Your sacrifice a banner flagrant
Giving up the here and now;
Your oxen make an offering fragrant
On the altar of your plow.

Julius Caesar was warned, or so the bard tells us, to beware the Ides of March. And I would also do well to beware the I'ds of this month when spring flirts but winter pours out its final wearisome effort on my soul.
