"A Journey To Boston (Part 1)" is an original 51-second rocker employing three different electric guitars. Layered with distortion, chorus and delay, I have attempted to get a sound reminiscent of Tom Scholz's 70's band, Boston. A pitch-shifted Squire Stratocaster handled the bass lines while my Hondo II Les Paul-style provided the rhythm crunch. Taking lead was an early 80's Zion PowerGlide. (You can also see my Zion in this video.) Recording, drums and guitar processing was accomplished using a Digitech GNX3 Workstation.
There are some cool moments in this that I'd love to revisit sometime. (A Part 2, maybe?) I'm especially fond of the "feedback" part. This was accomplished mid-solo by applying an eBow to an already ringing note, driving it into a nice four measure feedback wail.
Aren't guitars fun? :)
