In this article, I will focus on Character Development and Analysis. After reading the script and working through the script structure and scene analysis, it's time to figure out the development and objectives of the characters.
There are many facets of a Director's prep on any film - from location scouts, creative meetings and casting. But the first, and most important part of your job, is to understand the script - what the story is about; the themes; the story points; the characters.
In this article, we will discuss the casting session and how to quickly find out if an actor is right for a part.
The first time a director works with an actor is usually during the casting session. I will talk more about the actual casting process next issue, but today I want to discuss what you need to know before you enter the casting room.
