This is a series of drumming lessons taught by Lane Fournerat. In these first three lessons we will learn the first two simple rudiments RRRRLLLL and RLRL. Then we will take a look at our first named rudiment the Paradiddle.

this guy uses too much arm motion. uses up way much more energy than he needs, the very basic rudimental drumming can and should use only wrist and finger movements. the arm is indeed used a lot when you further include dynamics, open strokes verses down strokes, and of course showmanship, but the very basic proper rudimental drumming uses about half the arm movement this guy is using. not to be too critical, but the way he's holding the stick isn't really all that great of an example either. there's really no one way to drumming and never will be, but based on this video, this guy doesn't know exactly what he's doing
