Andrew, in answer to your question, Bush was elected in 2004 because of ignorant people who don't take the responsibilty to be informed citizens and just assume that everything is ok. People in this country are constantly entertained to the point where no one notices how America's policies affect the world we live in. A democracy only works when it's citizens are informed. Take some initiative and WAKE UP to what's going on! I don't care if you are liberal or conservative, but at least take the time to CARE!!!!

Bush has been a polarizing figure, for sure. If ever there was a man unqualified for the job, it has been Bush. He was given a second chance with the 2004 elections and completely squandered it, spending billions on a war that serves no purpose besides turning the US into the most hated country in the world. Imagine the millions in the Middle East who take this as a lesson of America's despicable imperialism.

Im not really into politics that much, and I don't hate Bush either. However, if Bush is so bad at being president, why was he elected for a second time?

The quality of the video itself is pretty so-so, but the essay is right on. Certainly he has been extremely influential -- like a virus. I do think you were excessively coy about whether you think he's been a good or a bad influence. And say - what would be so wrong about hating Bush? How come the right can "foam at the mouth" and sputter and squawk about the Clintons and Al Gore, but criticizing Dubya is dismissed as "hatred" and "Bush bashing"?

Attention EVERYONE....let me offer some PERSPECTIVE here. Late last calendar year, AC asked for articles or videos on who we (the AC readers/writers/etc) thought was the "most influential" person or persons of 2006. After seeing people cite Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and so forth --- I put a SHORT video together arguing for George W. Bush. It was NOT meant to argue for all his policies - it is aimed ONLY at arguing he was the most influential person of 2006. I had to cut it back because of file size constraints. I'm not saying it's my best work or better than anyone else's video for that matter. I'm just putting it out for people's consideration. Okay?

Nothing like a controversial video to get the page views a-rollin'.

This simply was a video sparse in content or salient points. Can you stake the same claim about any president? Maybe. Can you make the same claim about any president that has presided over a national crisis such as a war or economic crisis? Probably. GWB presided over a major terrorist attack AND a major war. The video doesn't attempt to create a causal relationship between GWB the person and his purported influence. The viewer can easily assume that any man that was the President of the United States during this time would be just as influential. For that matter, one could make the case that GWB is just a minor player in events that have been developing for many decades involving dozens if not hundreds of equally or more significant players. It's just not a good video. Sorry, but it feels more like a high school speech class assignment than a convincing argument.

I don't necessarily agree that he has been the most influential person of 2006, yet I do agree he will be remembered...for what and to whom is yet to be known. Many are Bush 'haters', many love Bush, many just really don't care and honestly I am sure some people have no idea who he is, so...semi-ish video...was really splotchy and it kept stopping and starting and I had to restart it one time to get it to finish all the way....good effort though...keep on trying! (thats what AC is about!)

I'm with you, Brian. The mere mention of the name "Bush" turns a lot of people into wild Pavlovian dogs. They don't salivate, they foam at the mouth. The issue of whether G.W. is the most influential person of 2006 has absolutely nothing to do with whether he is a good President or has good policies. Yet many of the comments here indicate an irresistible urge to bash Bush regardless of the reason he's mentioned. In all fairness, compared to what I've seen on other sites, the comments here are tame. The video was okay.

He's been pretty influential for the last several years. In the last election, he influenced a record voter turnout in our midterm elections. He's pushed millions of people to the left. Thank you, war-mongering, religious zealot! We will paying for Bush's mistakes for decades and history will most-likely put him in the realm of terrible to mediocre president, rest assured.

And just for the record, I don't HATE Bush. I think he's sincerely misguided. Although I am sure he believes he is acting in the best interest of the country. And Tubbsy- I was actually hoping to see a video that glorified him, just becasue I find it fascinating that people still back him. As one who studies mental health, I want to understand WHY this phenomena is occuring. I guess the reason your video made me angry is because it scares me how many people out there are just indifferent to what is going on. It frightens me.

Marquis- Hypocritical is spelled with an "Y". I don't think anyone was discussing racism here. It seems like the one with hatred here is you. I was reviewing the video, which I did not think was very good, whereas you resort to name-calling towards an large an diverse group of people, most of whom you have never met, without giving any evidince to support your hatred of liberals. There are some good republicans out there and there are some crooked democrats. I just thought it was a crappy video.
