Rattlesnakes were caught in the Whigham, Georgia area by rattlesnake hunters during the 47th Annual Rattlesnake Roundup on January 27, 2007. The venom collected will be used for research. Rattlesnake venom is in the drug Byetta, used to treat Type II (adult onset) diabetes and other medications to thin blood and treat high blood pressure.
