Power should be disconnected BEFORE removing fixture and disconnecting wires. Also, unnecessary to turn power off for entire house. Only need to shut off circuit breaker to the branch circuit supplying electricity to the light.

Two comments on video: 1. He discards the ground wire and assumes that the box itself is grounded. It's safer to use ground wire and not rely upon box being grounded, but if you do, then you need to test box to ensure it's grounded. This can easily be done with inexpensive voltmeter. Actually, ground wire should be tested as well if it will be used for grounding purposes. 2. While not necessary, best practice is to wrap wire nuts and wires with electrical tape. It only takes a few seconds and electrical tape is dirt cheap. Doing this helps ensure the wires don't come loose when pushed inside the box and also provides additional protection to connection from moisture.

Thank you so much for doing this. I have an outside light that has needed replacing for some time, and now I can see how easy it will be to replace. I think I can take care of it myself after watching this. Much appreciated! :)

Everything was great except for the ground wire. I did not get to see where it was connected.
